Yes, writing the article was a professional development experience for me.
It caused me to revisit research that I had reviewed many months before and
to look for and read more material about the subject. The writing process
connected me with colleagues and caused me to engage in conversations about
topics related to the article that I might not have had otherwise. As for
technical skills, writing for FOB forced me to write far more carefully than
I normally write and to review the rules regarding citing references. 

It was worth doing professionally and I would do it again. Thanks for the
opportunity!
