Outreach Coordinator
National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy/World
Education

The National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy
(NCSALL), through partner organization World Education (a non-profit
organization based in Boston), seeks a full-time outreach coordinator.
The Outreach Coordinator will work directly as a member of the NCSALL
dissemination team to plan and conduct outreach that will help
practitioners, programs, and states to access and use NCSALL research in
their adult literacy, family literacy, and ESOL programs.  The Outreach
Coordinator, as an employee of World Education, will also become
familiar with and provide information about World Education's other
projects and services to interested states and programs in the region. 
Please note that the incumbent need not be based in Boston.  NCSALL is
funded through the U.S. Department of Education.

*Responsibilities*

- Work with NCSALL Dissemination team to develop and implement outreach
strategies to encourage more states to access NCSALL research
publications and website, to use NCSALL teaching and training materials,
and to seek NCSALL's assistance to connect research, practice, and
policy.
- Build awareness of NCSALL among key stakeholders:  practitioners,
researchers, and policymakers.
- Provide training and conduct workshops that will help practitioners
and policymakers understand NCSALL research.
- Provide training-of-trainers for state and local professional
development staff to use NCSALL study circles, teaching materials,
seminars, practitioner research training and other professional
development activities.
- Assist in writing, producing, and piloting NCSALL professional
development materials (study circles, workshops, seminars, etc.)
- Work with the team to develop and implement formative evaluation
methods to document the reach and outcomes of NCSALL dissemination
strategies.
- Learn about the services, projects, and products of NCSALL's
partners (World Education, Center for Literacy Studies, Portland State
University, Rutgers University, Harvard University) and provide
information about same to interested states and programs.
- Attend NCSALL Dissemination team meetings three times a year.
- Maintain regular communication with NCSALL Deputy Director (Cristine
Smith) and with Dissemination team through phone calls, e-mail, and
through web-based records management system.

*Qualifications*

- Experience working in adult literacy, family literacy, and/or ESOL in
the U.S. (required)
- Experience and expertise as an adult literacy professional
development designer and facilitator (required)
- Knowledge of how adult education state systems and professional
development systems are constituted and operate (required)
- Experience conducting own research or participating in research
project (desired)
- Knowledge of NCSALL's research, materials, and activities (highly
desired)
- Demonstrated ability to balance workload with multiple
responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to meet deadlines while producing high-quality products
- Strong oral and written communication skills, facilitation skills,
and presentation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally

*Compensation*

This is a full-time position.  Salary in range of $50,000, plus
excellent benefits.
